Biography

Brian J. Sommer is admitted to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. His practice for the firm will be as its Senior Litigator and is focused on commercial litigation, construction litigation, and Marcellus Shale litigation in state trial courts throughout Western Pennsylvania, state appellate courts, and the federal court for the Western District.   He is experienced in representing clients in disputes involving closely held businesses, intellectual property, Marcellus Shale litigation arising from contamination to client’s property from oil and gas operations, litigation involving Pennsylvania’s Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection law, defamation claims, breach of contract actions between businesses, securities litigation, and litigation involving financial advisors’ promissory notes. He has also represented investment firms and individual financial advisors in connection with raiding cases and is well-versed on the Protocol for Broker Recruiting. A graduate of the University of Vermont and the University of Pittsburgh, School of Law, Brian was a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2013, 2014, and 2015, and a Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera Rising Star Leadership Award 2005 nominee.
